Peter Clark started this well known Whakatane Company in 1958 and was joined a year later by Alfred Richmond.  They were upholsterers only to begin with, but with a growing reputation for service and skills and employing new expertise, expansion was and still is ongoing.  New Products were introduced for sale and new premises found to house them.

In 1967 the business was moved to its current location in Boon Street, where it has expanded showroom space and workshop.  Clients can browse the extensive sample ranges, talk to the upholsterers directly and view the work happening all in one place.  Current General Manager Keith Richmond joined his father in 1967 and has over 30 years experience in recovering furniture, styles, colours and techniques.






The upholstery service is provided by a team of dedicated staff who work with a focus on the customers’ needs and requirements, as they have since the company was founded. Run today by Keith and Alison Richmond, who joined the company in 1988.





The company now shows furniture from David Shaw and Sorenson Furniture, exclusive Fabrics from Sanderson and an extremely large selection of furnishings and drapery samples.

As the Eastern Bay moves into the 21st century, Peter Clark Limited will continue to keep up with the trends in all facets of their business, turning old into new, supplying quality products that turn houses into homes, as they have done for 40 years.
