In the peaceful Ohiwa Harbour, just 10 minutes from Whakatane. A short boat trip (self driven or transport provided) takes you to the small island paradise fringed with pohutukawas.
Enjoy the total privacy of the waterfront lockwood house in a parklike setting and swimming pool.
Ohiwa harbour offers safe swimming, kayaking, windsurfing, and fishing and is very suitable for children.

We offer accommodation on Ohakana Island in the middle of Ohiwa Harbour close to Ohope (and Whakatane) in the Bay of Plenty.
Just the right thing for a relaxing holiday.
The house is located in a small bay, surrounded by old Pohutukawa trees. You can use our small boat while you are here. The trip to the 'mainland' takes only a minute. Handling the boat is easy to learn.
We, Luise and Martin together with our four children live in the next bay, just 150m away. The house has two bedrooms, a large living room, a well equipped kitchen, TV, VCR and small library, and a swimming pool.
The area has a lot to offer. There is the Ohope golf course close by. You can do the Kohi Point Walkway (3-4 hours) to Whakatane passing the secluded Otarawairere Bay.
Don't forget active marine volcano, White Island, 50km off-shore. You can see the volcano from Ohakana Island. Boat and helicopter tours run to White Island. And there is good diving around the volcano, too.
Ohiwa Harbour is well known for its fishing grounds.
An oyster farm is close by.
