Sophie Foster, Alex Welch and Melinda Rangihau have worn long hair for as long as they can remember. Well now they can put away their Instylers and hair products as they're now bald! The three ladies from Whakatane shaved their heads and in doing so managed to raise more than $5000 for Canteen, NZ.
The idea arose when they decided to support Sophies relative who was receiving treatment. They then chose to gather sponsors and give all proceeds to Canteen. Sophie had her head shaved in private while Alex and Melinda had theirs done at the Whakatane RSA and wanted to thank the RSA staff and members for bumping up their fundraising efforts and supporting the cause so well by providing fantastic support.
They hope their efforts will inspire others to do similiar acts in support of societies such as Canteen who rely on the fundraising efforts and donations of caring New Zealanders. They would also like to thank the Whakatane Businesses and people who donated towards the cause.
