Once again Whakatane has recorded the highest sunshine hours in New Zealand.
Whakatane is officially New Zealand's sunshine capital. Niwa has released its sunshine hours with Whakatane recording more than 2500 hours of sunshine in 2012.
Summer daytime temperatures in Whakatane generally hit 20-25 o C with some days reaching the 30s. Sure, some days are wet, but Whakatane scores the country’s hottest temperature around 50 days a year. Just as well, because Whakatane is also ideally positioned to catch some “best ever” holiday experiences – mostly related to the sparkling South Pacific Ocean, nearby rivers and lakes.
