Boomerang Bags Whakatane is about engaging communities, upcycling materials, reducing plastic consumption and fostering sustainable behaviour in Whakatāne, New Zealand!
We take donations of recycled fabric to make bags that will be placed in the community, to encourage people to stop and think about their decision to use plastic bags when shopping. Volunteers don't necessarily need to sew, and we'll be holding 'training nights' for people who want to learn. There's plenty of other things you can do: tasks are broken down into ironing, cutting fabric, pressing logos, delivering bags, collecting fabric donations and of course spreading the word!
Feel free to join our group on Facebook, sewing bees will be held fortnightly and dates posted on the Facebook page.
