Welcome to Coastlands Preschool Whakatāne.
We provide a safe and encouraging environment for children aged 0 - 5 years old to play, learn, and flourish. We believe it is important to have a close relationship with whanau and, as such, have an open door policy for both current and new families.
Our team of teachers are experienced and dedicated, providing quality care and education in a safe environment. We believe that our centre should be your child's home away from home. Our Space
At Coastlands Preschool we have three spacious indoor and large outdoor play areas. Rūma Tui is our purpose build learning space for under twos. Rūma Kiwi and Rūma Pukeko are for our tamariki aged two to five. Our preschool is situated near the beach in the peaceful surroundings of Coastlands, Whakatāne.
Beyond the Gate
We believe that a child's education needs to extend further than our premises. As well as taking being lucky enough to be located on school grounds, which we make regular use of, we also take our tamariki out to the local playgrounds. But our crème de la crème is the three times weekly mornings our older tamariki spend at the beach.
Our Curriculum
We use Te Whāriki, New Zealand’s unique early childhood curriculum, to guide our teaching and learning. Te Whāriki is used as the basis of our planning in order to ensure the development and well-being of each child. Additionally, we are a values-based preschool where children feel safe and accepted.
Our People
Coastlands Preschool is owned by local couple, Gay and Greg West and is managed by Jacqui Johnston. Together with their excellent staff, they work hard to make Coastlands Preschool the preferred early childhood option for many in the area. In fact, they are so sure the quality care and education, Gay and Greg's grandson's comes to the centre, as well as several children of the staff.
