Following the tragic events on Whakaari/White Island, the Bay of Plenty Regional Council Harbourmaster has created an exclusion zone (5 nautical miles) around the island until Police and NZDF have completed their activities.

Please also note that local hapu and iwi around the Bay of Plenty may have rahui in place along areas of the coastline. Please check with local hapu before fishing or collecting seafood in the coming days.
