Awakeri is a village located 10 minutes drive southwest of Whakatane.

Surrounded by large paddocks and forest scenery, Awakeri has an expanding farming and fruit growing community. The heart of Awakeri is just off the main state highway where you will find shops, Awakeri School and Awakeri Events Centre. 

Local attractions in Awakeri include the local natural Awakeri Hot Springs, travel down the Taneatua Rail Line in modified golf carts with Awakeri Rail Adventures or take a bush walk on one of the bush walks in the surrounding area. The Awakeri Events Centre is a large venue in Awakeri often holding special functions and sporting events.
