The Burma Road cycle track is an easy to intermediate grade ride with some beautiful scenery and chance of spotting a kiwi!

Access Burma Road from the top of Ohope Hill or Wainui Road by cycling up the unsealed  Maraetotara Road in Ohope.  If starting from Ohope, you will come across an intersection where you can go straight ahead to travel up Burma Road or take a left and cross the Ngati Awa farm. The Burma Road track that crosses the farm is signed throughout but does often have livestock roaming or being moved so some caution should be taken.  Well worth the short climb though as you reach several 'Lookout points".  If you fancy a loop ride, you can link up the top of Burma Road with the main road from Ohope to Whakatane where you can use the cycleway back down the hill to Ohope and then follow the cycle lanes along Pohutukawa Ave.
