Momoa is a young male Elephant Seal who has been a regular visitor to Whakatane since December 2018.

He can frequently be seen on the shores of the Whakatane River, he has been seen catching fish and eels as well as a lot of basking in the sun. Department of Conservation staff are onsite to ensure the safety of the Elephant Seal and for the safety of the public as well.
